Well I'm inside in the warm as we're into autumn here and we're having some rain. I've just returned from our Central Market where I've been holding court for several hours--breakfast with a friend before her work then coffee with my group of friends which has met for coffee at the same place (Lucia's) since 1982. And now I'm avoiding writing my thesis by doing jigsaws!!!!!

Hoover dam is on the Colorado River, not to far from Las Vegas, Nevada. This morning's picture was great, but to get an idea of the size of the dam, you need to see the face of the dam. The lake behind this dam is heavily silted up. (When I saw it, islands of silt stood 30-40 feet More...

I watched a programme on TV about the building of the Hoover Dam during the 1930's. It is a great engineering feat but lots of men lost their lives building it.
