... The kiddo at Blackheath in the middle of last year (meaning 2009). Metal play equipment like this used to be in every park in Sydney in the 1970s ... till they were declared unsafe!

I recently heard a comedian describe our upbringing as "benign negligence" when we had chemistry sets with stuff that would actually explode, metal cap guns, metal toys with sharp edges, were loose in the car when traveling and were actually allowed to go out on our own to play with friends. Is our world really so much more dangerous today?
