Excellent! Saw some good gorilla news yesterday about 125,000 lowland gorillas discovered in Congo.

What a great way to start the day! Is your stepdaughter living in Rwanda, full time, Kay? I feel so humbled by these people who are working to keep other species alive.

Ditto all the above! My heart aches when I see a photo of pouchers who have a gorilla strapped spread eagle on limbs and are carrying it off somewhere. I just cannot stand the sight of it. This mother and child are so loving.

Thank you all for the compliments to Martha's photography. She actually works for the Max Planc Institute in Germany (the equivalent of our US National Science Foundation). She was in Rwanda for about 2 years (she lived in Dian Fossey's cabin)while working on her PhD. She now divides her time More...

Corrections, for the spelling police: Photo caption should read "Africa" and not "Africe." Also Martha works for the Max Planck Institute (I left off the "k" in my comment above).

Thanks Kay for posting that wonderful photo! I saw that on last night's news, too Nancy! And they're very healthy because they haven't had human contact before! Let's hope they stay healthy!

I saw the same news, Nancy, and am in total agreement about keeping them healthy. My daughter has 4 girls and I think I've seen this same look on her (mommy) face: pondering playmates, day care, school, boys, college... Once a mother, always a mother! And once you've fallen in love with a little one, whoever you are, you're attached for life!

Kay I came up with duck bumps when you said she lived in Diane Fossey's cabin... Wow that's exciting - the gorilla urine not so much...
Beautiful picture, comments from all are mine too. Thanks big time for this one.
