Abbey, although I am not a religious person, it seems wrong to me to degrade another's beliefs or imply they should not display them in their own church, synagogue, mosque or temple. Kate, thank you for submitting this lovely picture!

It's so sad to hear of all the damage done, to so many beautiful things, in that terrible earthquake. This was one of them. Kate for the lovely photo.

I totally agree with you S.D.Shirley. If you can't display your own beliefs in a church or place of worship, then where can you display them? If you don't like such displays then stay away but don't call them rubbish. I am not a religious person either but I find that offensive.

Kate, wasn't it lucky that you took these lovely photos before the earthquake. I enjoy your photos as always.

Hello everyone, thanks for your comments! Christchurch will recover from this earthquake, but the city will be very different - too much damage & not enough money! So, Carmel I was very lucky to have been there & taken my photos!
