Awesome photo. Can anyone tell us more about this funnel fungus?

OK, now, another perfect picture for Halloween. "It Came from Outerspace". Kids can now officially dress up as fungi..instead of witches and pirates! Would love to know the diameter of this alien visitor.

Unlike yesterday's earthstar mushroom, I've never seen this wild dude! All the "funnel mushrooms" I know look more like a common mushroom, but with the cap indented to make the funnel.

It looks like one of those ocean oddities!

This would have to be the most unusual thing I have ever seen! I tried searching for it and came up with nothing that resembled it. If the owner of the photo could let us know where it is from it may help.

Neat! Another fungus among'us!! These are wonderfully bizarre pictures - I'd like to know where they live, too.

I spent a few quality minutes googling, and came up with more than I cared to learn about fungi, but nothing on this one. I'd love to know more!

WOW! I never heard of, or saw anything like this either! I would REALLY like more info too, like "Where was this taken?"

I also did some googling, and although I didn't come across this one, I found a similar sci-fi looking one at http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/potd/aseroe_rubra.jpg&am More...

I think it's enchanting, with its wispy tendrils and pink color. Like most of you, I want to know more!
