Love the shadows and that deep blue in the top left corner. Live oak trees? Don't look like oak trees with which I am familiar. Are they dwarfed in some way due to the unprotected coastal conditions like a lot of trees I would see along our coastline?

They are different, Elizabeth. For one thing, they are an evergreen -- hence "live." This and much, much more at the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_oak

You know I just love these trees, any time we are in the south I am absolutely fascinated by them. They have such interesting forms, especially when the moss hangs from them. Such an interesting picture..

This is a lovely picture I'd like to walk that walk and the background so pretty as well. I agree with you though Elizabeth. My oaks I spoke of earlier were huge "from a little acorn the mighty oak did grow"... Thanks Kay.

Thanks for the link Judy - I'm certainly not in a southern area, our oaks are deciduous, big trees that lose their leaves each Fall. I didn't know there could be an evergreen oak - interesting and just as lovely in a different way.

Excellent Kay.
Judy, I don't think this is a painting, but it would look fabulous as one.
