The cross supports were put in by my son's FIL. This is an old, and of course more expensive, mode of construction. The house has rammed earth walls. The cross supports are no hidden by the ceiling. I admire this kind of quality construction, and applaud your son for doing it to last. I see so many developments these days that have large, fancy houses that are poorly constructed when you get a closer look. Kudos to your son, Dino.

Okay, I'll bite. What's an FIL?
