I loved seeing the Echidna when I was in Australia...like a porcupine with a long nose.

Jacalmi, the echidna is very unlike the porcupine, being an egg-laying mammal! His favorite food is ants, and he's sometimes called the spiney anteater. We have one in our zoo's children's area, where he's a great favorite. (Sure glad to be back on line after yesterday's massive power outage - nearly all of southern Calif., and parts of Arizone and Baja California.)

Lots of thank you's Wendy. The Echidna is a favourite of mine. I thought that the echidnas from Kangaroo Island are the only blondes, however this one looks dark at the front and blonde behind!
