Nice photo, Ian. I see from Goggle it formed part of the cities fortifications and is noe a museum. Could you go inside, right to the top?

Eileen, it was closed when we passed by so I don't know the answer to your question. My son was invited to do research at the Darmstadt University of Technology and we were there to pay him a visit. But Darmstadt is such in interesting city we wished we could have stayed longer.

Interesting ... I would love to visit the little art gallery inside. I'd never heard of this tower before today, so I've gained another tidbit of knowledge. What sort of research was your son doing, Ian? Nice photo!

Ian, is your son still there, maybe you can have a longer visit next time

Thanks Eileen, don't know what all is inside but the outside looks museum worthy. Right, it IS a most unusul looking building - interesting... Good photo Ian,

Kay, he's into combustion research, but it's a bit too much for my feeble brain to follow. He still lives in Darmstadt but at this moment he and his wife are in Montreal attending a Combustion Conference.

I googled, and got enough about combustion research to satisfy my feeble mind, Ian. It does sound like a fascinating study for those scientific minds. I could get into engineering if I were young enough to start over, LOL. My husband is a mechanical engineer. Thanks, Ian.

Kay, Rob is also a mechanical engineer. He is specialising in flame technology at the moment.

Wow, Ian, you two breed 'em smart!
I was going to ask about the purpose of this tower but all my questions have been answered.
