Is it some sort of tropical fern? A wonderful picture and fun puzzle, albeit not so difficult!

Could be a theme for the fern from outer space.

June was correct, it is a cycad, but we call it our dinosaur plant- because the species is so ancient. Since that photo was taken the plant has had another spurt of new growth and it is now huge and dominates the courtyard. But we don't mind, it is an attractive plant. For more on cycads see

Barb, the reference says that it is often mistaken for palms or ferns, but is only distantly related to both - or words to that effect. But what is the difference - I dunno, I just take photos. June/Epping or Kate/Sydney might be able to tell you.

Thank you for your nice comments. I do not deserve them, but you have inspired me to resubmit some of the photos that I 'lost' last year.

That was a wonderful challenge, Ian! As Dino said, wonderfully crafted in composition and colours, and as she didn't say, somewhat tricky to put together. I enjoyed it hugely!
