But where's the kookaburra?
Ditto to Anne's comments. By the way, Anne, are we alone today? I'm usually the last to post!
 |  |
Which spelling? I thought it was Grannie, but might have misread some time ago. Have chatted with you in Sudokuland! Bonjour! Are you coming to Oz soon? Is it October that you're visiting WA? Bon Voyage! Have a good trip whenever it is!
Best wishes from LindyLou. :)

So how come there are not a bunch of kids under that tree looking for Gumblls?
 |  |
Gumballs!
 |  |
The small kids are hiding behind the tree looking for the Echidna they heard was living under it. Their older brother is up the tree hiding amongst the thicker foliage on the left hand side. I'm sure if we look hard enough, we might catch a glimpse of him

Mo: What is an Echidria?

A great aussie pic.

I have a Gum Tree, but I don't know what it is. We call is a gumbo limbo. The bark is like a peeling birch tree, the limbs are like those of the willow. Just no bubble gum.

Hi All. Must have lost my touch. This seemed to take ages. OH to have green grass again. My yard didn't quite recover with the past rain. This area in the pic hasn't had rain for a while either but the magestic gums survive.
CG- An Echidna is an Aussie anteater.

Besides the echidna, the kookaburra and the kids I bet there are some nice juicy witchety grubs in the ground under the tree too.

Five years of drought
Four kids a-playing
Three witch-ty grubs
Two e-chid-nas
And a kookaburra up a gum tree!

Love it Hether!

Glad you told me that was an echidna! I thought it was a c-a-t!

Canuk Greg
An echidna is an Aussie version of a porcupine, actually, with lots of spikes on its back.
 |  |
Clever girl. Hether. We are going to expect more now.

It's amazing how a single old tree can spur the imagination, isn't it?
