Maybe a lachenalia aloides according to my library book - a weed in Western Australia I'm afraid.

lol - a weed is only a plant that grows where you don't want it. I'd like to have more of these weeds lining my driveway or something. I looked it up with your info - also called cape cowslip. Interesting. Thank you Colleen

My Lechenalias have just finished flowering. (Not my photo)
These look as though they are growing with a cyclamen and maiden hair fern.

I think there is nothing quite as cheerful as pretty yellow flowers! Yes, I would love to line my driveway with these "weeds." Beautiful photo, and a good puzzle. Thanks to the photographer!
