He looked lot better when I realized he was a fish and not a dove/pheasant sort of bird photographed among rocks on a dark night. Of course, I was nearly done when I finally figrured that out...

A gorgeous fish, but did you notice what looks to be a stinger on its back? You tell me whether it's friendly, OK?

Hi Judy, This is almost certainly the French Angelfish, Pomacanthus paru, or a close relative. The dorsal fin has a narrow, frequently brightly coloured extension to add to his appeal for the girls. They are common inhabitants of reef ecosystems where they eat sea fans and sponges. They are quite harmless.
