good Maen everyone, Maybe I'll be first here?

Who is our Polish photographer?
 |  |
Beautiful sunset on the beach.
Where is everyone tonight. I'm off to bed now, it's getting late.
Good night all.
 |  |
My favorite kind of picture!!! Beautiful photo.
 |  |
Wonderful sunset. I wish I was sitting on that beach.
 |  |
Beautiful scene! I love to view the world through others' 'eyes'. I'm off and running for this day. Be back this evening to do this puzzle. Like to save the best for last. Good Maen all!!

I'd like to do a quick survey here.
What order do you usually do the puzzles in?
Edge first?
A significant point in the picture?
Top to bottom?
Bottom to top?
 |  |
Also, is there any piece you like to do last?
 |  |
I always start with the edge. If it is a picture of a person, I like to put the eye pieces in last.
Weird.
 |  |
Two more questions,
Do you look at the picture first?
Do you use the rotation required option?
 |  |
When you eat your Smarties do you eat the red ones last?
 |  |
Edge first, striking details next, dull stuff by piece shape at the end. I look back at the picture all the time. I don't rotate, at least not on Hard.
 |  |
I start with the edges, but sometimes work on a section, if it pops out at me. Don't really do any particular part last. I have just started hiding the picture, but am not brave enough for rotation, yet. Good questions! I was also wondering how other people do them.

Tend to follow the same technique as Keith, myself, Pam.
 |  |
Pam, Keith, Sharon, et al: I got bored with doing the edges first, so now I pile up all the same kind of edges (Right, Left, etc) and then find a piece that has a striking color and try to work around it. I've rotated pieces on Easy and Medium but not on Hard yet.
 |  |
I try not to look at the picture.
 |  |
Easy - Medium - Hard
Always on hidden rotation & look away for when the pic flashes up a sneak peek at the start!
Edges first using one side & gather other pieces by colour & lay them out neatly on the other.
Use the space bar to rotate pieces 60% of the time & mouse roller the other More...
 |  |
Edge first and work inwards from the edge, and never check the picture while doing the puzzle.

Heather: Did you rotate the North to Alaska sign yesterday? Must have taken forever. And, what colored pegs do you use for multi-colored clothes? Just curious! (wink)
 |  |
WARNING - If every one comes to the HV tomorrow dressed in different colours I may sort you out into order similar to the smarties!

But don't let that put you off... I've got the horses organised plus a couple of hot air balloons. Anne I've organised your landing... a giant jumping castle with a big X on it!

and Greg, I match the peg to the part that the peg is holding!
 |  |
And yes, I did hidden rotation on that one. The letters did help with the orientation but not with the assemblage... It was bloody hard!
 |  |
Heather: I'll wear paisley pants and a tied-dyed T-shirt with lots of pink. Orange socks, green shoes and of course my famous red and white Canadain hat. Which order will I get sorted on? Also bringing yellow/orange Canadian cheedar, beige crackers, and atwo bottles of Canadian wine, one red and one white. Gosh, I may end up in a group all by myself!

Good morning everyone. Sounds like a good discussion this morning/evening. I also do the edge pieces first, then the obvious pieces, etc., and I don't have the picture showing.
Oh, Hether, thank goodness I've met someone else that does that too. I also colour co-ordinate my washing with the More...
 |  |
Just thought I'd add that last comment because of all the colour clothes talk!! I'm not telling what colour underwear that I wear. Sorry, please report this comment as abusive. Better get dressed and go for my walk. Have a lovely day/evening everyone.
 |  |
I follow the same method as Keith too but I have the picture hidden. If I had more time I'd try rotation. When I come back from Overseas. See you all tomorrow. I'll be in hot pink and purple. You won't miss me.
 |  |
I also do edges first but, then I do any of the 'boring' sections first and try to finish with a 'significant' part. In this case the sun. Have not yet been brave enough to rotate on hard! Used to colour co-ordinate the pegs, but now am working full time and simply am pleased just to get them on the line!!!
 |  |
Always the edges first. don't look at the picture and tried rotation once...decided it made it way too difficult and therefore took away the fun.Hether sounds like the real expert here.Do them easy, which is dreadfully boring, medium, hard.
 |  |
Also, has anyone else noticed that, if you sort the pieces into piles, the computer will rearrange them into the order 'it' thinks you will use them in??
 |  |
I do the hard puzzle daily, but the easy and medium only if I like the picture.
 |  |
Yes edges first then just fill as feel like it .. dont look at picture to fill unless absolutely stuck.
CG
you will be a whole smartie box of colours just by yourself.
 |  |
Bluey, the computer arranges the piled pieces in order from lower right to upper left. I have to be careful not to pile them, or it takes the fun out of placement. I use the same technique as Keith without looking at the picture. I try to assemble as much of the brightly colored section as I can off to the side before I put it inside the frame.
 |  |
My goodness I don't think I have every seen so many comments on this site. Anyway down to my answers:- Easy, Med & Hard puzzles in that order. Then edges first, then generally work from the outside in. Hard puzzles I don't generally hide the photo & have never attempted rotation yet. I usual do More...

Greg - is that assortment of clothes left over from your young hippy days, or do you wear clothes like that now? Please submit a photo of you wearing them so that we can recognise you at the wine tasting. Looking forward to seeing all the friendly faces there, with or without a red and white canadian hat!!!!! We'll don the green and gold one.
 |  |
I,too, do edges first. I do glance at the photo, but do not refer back to it. I sort the pieces by color, and work from there. I also will work on significant parts after the edges. I have done rotate on easy, but not medium or hard. Don't know why, that the way we do it out of a box, right? More...
 |  |
Gee, A lively banter today. Don't you love it when you are sorting pieces 'Out of the way' and you see a little jig going on out of the corner of your eye as you've placed a piece next to the one it should be next to and they happily jump together. Love it.
 |  |
I do edges first, hidden and rotate, but sometimes it takes me for ever and as this is a hostel there are constantly people coming in to use the comp and sometimes I forget to save. Oh well!!
 |  |
Being 'colour challenged' I select by shape 80% of the time. Do all puzzles every day plus the picture presented at the completion of the Sudoku game but never see any comments there.
 |  |
Hello Ian from Thailand - I guess you are the Ian that used to be on here all the time. I don't see you post very often these days.
 |  |
Lots of comments here tonight. Nice hard puzzle.
