Glad I ate breakfast before putting this together. Ugh and Yuk! What IS this? Made for an excellent puzzle. I couldn't figure what on earth I was putting together.

What is a frogmouth, and where does it come from?

It's a bird, like an owl native to Australia. We had a better picture before (in the archives) I think from Ian or Kate.

In the small picture I thought it looked like a monkey so I had to wait to do the puzzle and look hard to see the frogmouth, no wonder they are good at hiding from their prey

It looks like this is a bird in a zoo. We had one in the aviary once(it had been hit by a car and only had one wing). It would sit on a log and when it heard anyone about would stretch itself up and pretend to be a branch and become hard to see. Also called Mopoke because in the middle of the night you can hear it call 'More pork'.

It is kind of hard to decipher the photo, at least until you find other photos of the frogmouth. It some of those other photos, it looks quite cute! The body of the bird is seen behind his head and beak, which is partly obscured with feathers. I had never heard of a frogmouth before!

This is a great photo! I didn't look at the title and couldn't word out which way was up... Then started to wonder if it was the back of a fancy hairdo!! And yes, it is an owl, the tawny frogmouth... Extremely hard to see, looks exactly like part of a tree
