Good one Kate. You really know your flowers.
Shar, the Banksia species is fairly common in Australia. They were named by Sir Joseph Banks, the famous naturalist, who travelled with Captain James Cook on his voyage that claimed Australia for Britain.

Thanks for the banksia Kate. I like them because not only do they attract native birds but even when they are finished they are worth looking at.

Kate, do you have a magnificent garden in your back yard, or do you live near a large botannical garden center??? Your flower photos are always so sharp and clear, and the variety seems endless! This one is striking. Kate and Ian, it's good to see your voices here again. I've missed you both.

Kate has two nice gardens - one in Sydney and one along side the Hawkesbury River and she visits lots of places and always has her cammera ready. Great photo, Kate.

Ian...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, normal sucks.

At first you think, it is just another flower...and then, you find yourself just looking at it for ages.
Beautiful Kate, thank you.
