This brings back memories of all the pleasant summers I spent on Mackinac Island as a child. For those of you who have never been there, no cars allowed. Only horses and bicycles. And the worlds best fudge!!!

So is the bridge just for pedestrians or can you be driven over to the island by car or bus? Great photo.

I wonder about that too, Maureen. That would be a long walk if you were carrying your luggage!

Does the Mackanaw Bridge go to Mackinac Island? Looking at the photo above, I wouldn't think that would be a pedestrian/equestrian bridge....

Heidi what great memories, how fortunate one is to have good childhood memories. They can take you back to such wonderful times.
Imagine the brain power that must have gone into making bridges like this - good picture.

Well, the bridge has its own website http://www.mackinacbridge.org/
I am still not certain about the horses and bicycles element -- no mention. They do have an annual bridge walk. Oh, well, so long as there was fudge -- I'd go. Rev up your wheels, Dorthea and I'll ride behind you!

Ah, I see. The name of the bridge above is incorrect in the caption under the photo.
