Did you think I was joking ... or taking poetic licence when I said that the axle had been tied up to the bullbar with a tow strap? ... I haven't been back this way for nearly a year to check out the progress of ol Club'ubs ... maybe in October. Cheers Fi

This is lovely.

Sheryl/Virginia, I received your query from yesterday, but before I try to answer - what kind of a computer do you have and do you have any special photography programs?

Gorgeous flowers.
 |  |
a gentle picture
 |  |
What a lovely delicate flower and the color is spectacular.
 |  |
Quite a different flower, looks like it is from the lily family. My Stargazer lily has just finished blooming. It is the last of my lilies to bloom and now the phlox have started.
 |  |
Surely it is an orchid? Lovely photo.
 |  |
very pretty... More lilies????
 |  |
Ian, I don't think it's an orchid. Orchids usually have three inner petals and three outer petals which are different from the inner petals in some way. I vote for lily.

Orchid or lily...they are just lovely...what a beautiful color!

Will someone please ask Dino from gippsland did she ever live in Ringwood. I used to know a Dino from Ringwood.
 |  |
DotCom, I bow to your greater wisdom (but I still think it is a variety of the Dancing Lady Orchids - however, I have been known to be wrong, occasionally (ask my wife)))
 |  |
Judi, I've never lived in Ringwood, and dino is just an on-line name. One of my daughters lives near there at Forest Hill, so I'm often in the area.

Ian-thanks for the reply-I am using a typical HP computer and use basic photo programs like PictureProject, HP photo and such.(Adobe Lightroom is on my wishlist)

Sheryl/Virginia, last night I remembered that Gath has devised an image processing program and maybe it might be worth a try before things get too complicated. It is -

Resizing your photos is a pain, but once you have done More...

Sheryl, I clean forgot to advise you to make a copy of the photo before you start fiddling with it. In this way if you muck it up you won't have lost the original.
 |  |
Ian, Thanks for the info re Gath's image processing site. I iconed it and will try resizing and submitting some photos soon.

It could be a butterfly orchid
 |  |
But on second thoughts I don't think it is. The other orchid it looks vaguely like is a pansy orchid a Miltonia/Orchidaceae from Sth America. It has the 'split beard' that's flat rather than cup shape. But it looks more like a pansy than this does!
 |  |
Ian, sorry, I missed your comment about the 'dancing ladies'. They're a variety of butterfly orchid - an onchidium. They have a very large skirt & smaller petals on top. There's not a lot of difference between the two varieties, but they're both different from the ones here. Could be a new hybrid! anyway they're very pretty!
 |  |
I agree very pretty no matter the name!

Where is the flower? Did the ugly 4 wheel drive run over it?
 |  |
Oh, don't tempt me. The sky is really blue, though.

and the dirt is really red! I can't quite make out the tow cable holding the axle up. Trust Aussie Outback ingenuity to make something like that work! Jan. 22 2009
