So, now I read that it's a lucky piglet. It's mama probably thinks it's purty. Thanks for a fun photo/fun puzzle!

Nasty looking old boar, but a cool sculpture. Thanks for sharing the photo, whoever.

So this is Sydney, the Australian pig!! (Couldn't resist saying that...) For a number of years, we raised the kind of pigs which became pork, & Syd isn't one of them. He's a boar (fullgrown male)and, judging by the long, curly hair, a wild one. He's a cutie, too. Would like to have a little replica of him. Our pigs were only cute as newborns, $$ in the bank, and chops in the freezer!

I know this pig, we have photographs of him taken during one of our wanders around Sydney streets. He is located in Macquarie Street. It is noticeable that other prominent parts of his anatomy have been polished by fondling hands over time - apart from his snout, that is.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I will now make an extra effort to walk along Maquarie St next time I'm up there

Is being a boar saying something about Sydney? Sorry, just a bit of the Sydney - Melbourne rivalry

Hey Judy, I didn't touch it! I was intrigued that so many people seemed to have given it a rub, for good luck I suppose, that it had polished the patina off the sculpture.
And I think I should leave the subject there. It is a fine sculpture.

As for the Sydney/Melbourne debate - I live in Sydney but my heart is in Melbourne. Carn the Dons.

Leia and I took this pic the same Tuesday as the Hyde Park pics! It was donated for friendship between Italy and Australia and rubbing its snout is supposd to be lucky. I, too, speculated that some people might be interested in a particular type of luck! Had fun glossing that over for Leia!

I will have to look for it to when next in Sydney. I have never seen it before. Thanks Leia and Kate for the photo.

This thing terrified me as a child. Now I don't even notice it and had no idea you rubbed its snout for luck. Thanks for that bit of information.

I also have never seen this creature, but will take a walk up that way one lunchtime next week! Good shot Leia & Kate!!!
