Lovely photo Kate. Peat Island is a 'hospital' for people with mainly mental disabilities. I visited there once and not a pleasant place. It has very old structures and is in the process of being closed down. There were people who had been there for 50 or more years.

It's a beautiful photo of a place with an ugly history. Thanks for the info June.

The sun does not discriminate when it sends its farewell glow.
It speaks to black and brown and white, to mighty and to low.
Would that we could be as fair, and spread our love to all:
The most unloved quite likely need our friendship most of all.

(This poem took both Kate's lovely photo and June's insight for inspiration. Thanks to both!)

I agree with all. I didn't think they had places like this in Australia anymore, I wonder how the people who have been there most of their lives will adapt to the "outside" world!
