A dragonfly? Lovely close-up

A big eyed dragonfly sipping at a lovely flower. Great shot!

Great shot !! Deidre --- dragonflies eat mosquitoes. In a Japanese tradition, they are considered to be sentimental messengers.
 |  |
A super picture! And yes Deidre, dragonflys are good friends!
 |  |
Little messenger, little feeling?

Wonderful dragonfly. Super photo!

Doing it's bit for pollinisation? Nice close up.

Thanks Muriel, I did not know that dragonflies ate mosquitoes - we generally have plenty of them flying around our pool during the day, but haven't seen any at dusk or night when the mossies are out.

Beautiful pic!

What a great shot, those little fellas are fast and don't stay still for long, well done to the photographer

Thank you all...glad you like it. I think we can all agree; these are better to look at than spiders. I am not surprised you did not see it in Flickr. I think it, and about four more, are on page 20 by now! lol. Thanks Gath for posting it.

Great shot Nal!!!
 |  |
Well-captured Nal, they are fast little b''''ers, aren't they! I'd rather look at its photo than be near the real thing - they give me the creeps! :)
 |  |
Very good shot Nal! Didn't have to read the comments to recognize your work.

Great dragonfly better than cats & dogs. Clicking on image properties says 350 x350px & 20,88Kb (21382bytes). Does this mean it gets shrunk on site? Ive been trying to get my to the size specified & have had trouble doing so! (The missing apostrophes are not my fault. something wont let me type them!)

Apart from the fact that they are beautiful as adults and eat adult mosquitoes, their nymphs eat mosquito larvae as well.
