Wow! Is this an oil well?
 |  |
Maybe it's a water pump of sorts?
 |  |
Perhaps it's just modern art!

I think it used to be an oil pump, but now it is only an ungainly thingamy.
 |  |
Yes, this is an oil well and yes it still is used to pump oil. There are many such small pumps here in Oklahoma
 |  |
Also many such pumps still working all over Texas

We just had some removed from the center of what is now a nature preserve. I remember having called them grasshoppers. These are relics now they have a small machinery closer to the ground.

I recall seeing lots of them in Northern Pennsylvania, too.
 |  |
Very interesting picture. Thanks for all the information, too!

Pasha Bulker, which has been stuck on Newcastle's popular Nobby's Beach, 160km north of Sydney, since Friday. This happened during a storm. But they got it pulled off the beach without any oil spill. I don't know what Friday but you can see this on the internet. I pulled it up. Just thought it was interesting.
