Big crane! My son is a journeyman crane operater and he's told me he's interested in moving to Australia to work. He was in Iraq for more than a year(Army)and he's only 25 now. Is life pretty good 'down under'?

Where is this building taking place, Kate? Killara?

whereizzy ... like most places in the world the construction industry is in the doldrums due to the global recession. It's being talked up now but who really knows?!

OK! I'll admit it checked the clouds for a crane, then the chimney top, and FINALLY saw the crane. My next thought was the same as Tedro's but a bit more specific: This is one of the red-and-white whopping cranes commonly found foraging at construction sites, looking for bee-ms, cee-ment blocks, and other dee- hmmm ran out of thoughts. Help, anyone?

Nice one Linda
whereizzy--my nephew works in his cousin's hiring/fixing/delivering cranes business based in northern Queensland and the GFC is affecting their business (or it was when I saw him in March this year) But then oz's economy is in better shape than the usa's.

It might depend on whether his 'certification' is recongised over here or not.
