Sacky, Good photo. At first I thought it was an octopus until I read your caption, then I realized I mistook its thorax for a head. Also, the background looks like the photo was taken in clear shallow water. It's fun to get fooled.

Hello everyone!
Wow, that's a photo out of the past!! Taken on 7th Dec'07, submitted on the 18th Feb'08 & it's still got its comment!!
jacalmi, it's the seed pod of a wattle tree - Cedar Wattle & it is an Australian native, not such a good photo though!! It's the largest wattle tree, can grow to 30 metres high ~ 98 feet.

Its full name is: Acacia elata, Fabaceae-faboideae
Common names: cedar wattle, mountain cedar wattle, pepper-tree wattle, peppertree wattle
