Lovely bird. Would that be an old gum tree he's sitting in??

I always wondered what one looked like, "eating all the gum drops he can see".

Thanks!

I'm so glad to see what a kookaburra looks like...not as I had imagined. This is a really pretty bird.

Okay, guys, I really expected that by now somebody would have "sung" the kookaburra song for us all - the little bird looks as though he has his head cocked to catch the merry refrain! Laugh, kookaburra, you are a fine specimen of a bird and should be proud of yourself.

Well what do you expect?.... this is my first chance to check in here today, so...

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree More...

He looks kind of cute and fuzzy, with pretty markings. Joan, I am singing the song in my head, but it's just not the same without all of the Girl Scouts gathered 'round....

Great photo. I think it maybe one of Ku-Ring-Gai/Lane Cove Kate's!

Great capture!! The Kookaburras seem to be very tame at Seal Rocks. We stayed in a house there a few years ago, and they would come every evening and sit on the porch railings. Wonderful things!

I, too, am glad to know what a kookaburra looks like. I need to get on here earlier, you all took the good k-b lines and I can't even think of a caption!

The tree looks like a bottle brush not a gum tree. Maybe Kate from Lane Cove can tell us.

Thank you, Heidi! That was incredibly touching - glad to know I can count on you for the important things in Life!
Kay, I understand completely - but Heidi can certainly help fill in that gap in our lives!
Did you all sing the very last bit, after "Gay your life must be, ha ha ha ha ha"?
Ah, memories of youth!

Not me though I'd be proud to claim it! Someone else will need to own up! And its no longer Lane Cove (though its a great suburb) - my loyalties have finally shifted!

Joan... you are a true lady who appreciates the finer things in life.

Certainly a great photo.
They are a very big bird, and very daunting when feeding them on the balcony. Those beaks would have your finger off in a thrice!

Joan, I sang it out loud with Heidi, much better than a solo! She wasn't here when I submitted my comment. I guess she sneaked in the back door when I wasn't looking!
