During my early childhood, my grandparents lived three houses north of Route 66 in Webster Groves, Missouri (a St. Louis suburb). I would sit in their neighbor Ray's back yard and watch the truck traffic stream by, while Ray (a mechanic) serviced Gramps' car.

The truck trailers in that picture are from the 1970s, when the trailers got longer. They made the camel smaller and the name of the firm larger, as shown in these trailers.
Campbell Express was swallowed up by Overnight Express years ago.

I grew up in Albuquerque and traveled that route east to Chicago and west to LA several times. Perfected my driving as a teenager there. Good times.

Great puzzle. I enjoy hearing about some of the other puzzlers childhood stories, quite often fun was what we made it. All over the world I think many people got their kicks with this song

I remember watching Route 66 in black and white a LONG time ago.

Jim, my Mother was from a small town(Sparta) in southern IL, not far from St. Louis.
