This area is east of Grand Junction (about 2 1/2 hours train time) while we were going in and out of tunnels. It seemed as if the geography changed every time we came out of a tunnel. The original photo shows more clear striations in the rock, which amazes me to think of the force required to push these layers perpendicular to the ground and raise them to the top of a mountain.

Wilodene, we in Southern California are anxiously awaiting (and not in a good way) the forthcoming "big one" earthquake, that will, no doubt, raise our surrounding mountains another five feet or so. This incredible beauty has a huge price!

Are those ruins on the top left corner? Leelee, is the "big one" the one that is supposed to separate Calif along the San Andreas and form a new state in the Gulf? Let's surely hope not!! I'll never forget sitting at my dining room table typing, and watch my typewriter go giggling across the table.
